I'm really glad to find blog such as yours. I think it's really great info and guide for start-up.

About the customer review, the trusted mark concept is quite good. Because it's like some independent reviews for your goods, with no responsibility for always-good-review for your goods.

Another company you'd like to look into is Power Reviews. Their solution is free of charge to retailers. However the reviews would also end up on their sister site - Buzzilions and expect to earn a commission on every sale made through this site (CPA basis). Interesting company that is gaining lots of traction in the US. I suspect they would be launching something similar for UK customers.

James
It was great to meet the other day and find out more about your plans - I think you have some great ideas about how to create differentiation in a crowded market.
I thought it worth clarifying one point - we never, ever edit a review. This sits at the very heart of what we do - that for customers to trust reviews and the site publishing them, they need to see a review that they have written published verbatim. I believe that this is what we can make the Reevoo brand stand for - so that when a customer sees our brand on your site they know immediately that they can trust the review content and therefore by association, your site.
What we do do is remove reviews completely that refer to service, price or the retailer, and make the reviews that we remove available to our partners to use in driving customer engagement and loyalty and to drive service improvements.
Good luck!

I love reviews on sites - more so on technology sites where it matters if the product will work first time with other pieces of technology.

You say that there's potential to have hundreds of pages at the start with “Be the first person to review this item” - is there an opportunity for the product to only include the 'review this product' link when the sales pass a certain threshold? Not much point having the link on the page if nobody has bought it from you, and I doubt very much that someone would review a product they bought from someone else (I probably wouldn't).

I think trust is an important thing - and there's nothing worse than seeing a site that has poorly written reviews, so the reevoo's concept is interesting.

Looking forward to the site launch!
